I think we can all agree that 2008 will be remembered for the economic crisis that has affected us all. Government bail-out and corporate bankruptcy are terms we have come to hear daily. And even though there have been signs recently that the worst may be behind us, we continue to feel the impact as the recovery takes time.

Despite the current economic situation, I want to assure you that National Mutual Benefit continues to stand strong, stable, and secure, as we have for 107 years. Although no organization is immune to this financial unrest, the management team at National Mutual Benefit has always strived to establish a strong surplus position to help protect our members’ interests during economic downturns, such as we are currently experiencing. This, along with a well-diversified investment philosophy, and a careful eye on expenses, has enabled us to remain steady.
